Look beyond the label “high-sided”
Compare the actual wall coverage, the height and position of the entry, and any joints between the pan and upper walls. Urine can reach weak points in a poorly matched design. Exact dimensions are important when comparing products.
Balance containment with access
Higher sides can support urine and litter containment, but cats still need a comfortable way in and out. Consider the individual cat’s size, mobility, and established habits. An enclosed format may offer more coverage, while an open high-sided format may provide easier access.
Make cleaning part of the decision
Inspect where residue could collect and whether the relevant surfaces can be reached easily. Regular scooping and cleaning remain necessary with any litter box.
